Anzea
Twists and Turns

Each of this manufacturer's fabrics is commissioned to a different designer, resulting in a collection that has a remarkable level of design excellence. Anzea adds durable fibers and weaves that result in fabrics with the strength and resilience to satisfy contract and hospitality demands. The striated jacquard Twists and Turns, designed by Carol Thomas, is a prime example: a delicate, embossed vine pattern in 10 subtle colorways with a superhero-strong Crypton finish. 901 Foch Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107; 817-336-2310, x12; anzea.com.

Designtex
Riverstone and Igneous

Don't let the delicately glimmering metallic filament and ethereal beauty of these weaves fool you; they're high-performance. Both Riverstone and Igneous have olefin faces and are backed with polyester and acrylic. Both patterns are offered in seven colorways, including an ultra-contemporary beige named Biscuit. 200 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014; 800-221-1540; dtex.com.

Yoma
Fraiche

Earth-friendly and delicious, delicate-looking Fraiche is available in eight colors. It was inspired by a Japanese silk kimono motif (but don't be fooled; the 100 percent recycled-polyester weave withstands 100,000 rubs with nary a sign of wear). 580 Broadway, Suite 1209, New York, NY 10012; 212-431-4794; yoma.com.

Maharam
The Story of My Life

Maira Kalman's cheeky illustrations have enlivened her children's books, The New Yorker, and The New York Times. Kate Spade even had her develop a pattern for a handbag collection. Kalman now makes her mark on contract textiles with The Story of My Life, which she designed for Maharam. The rayon-polyester fabrics are embellished with some 200 different doodles, ranging from a nesting bird to a ladder and a rhinoceros, all inspired by everyday-life observations. "Walking everywhere, seeing anything, weaving a story…that's my full-time occupation and delight," she says. The fabrics' fine denier warp preserves the simple quality of Kalman's original caricatures, and the five background colorways—Abyss, Coffee, Hay, Snow, and Venetian—allow the renderings to really sing. 501 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10010; 800-645-3943; maharam.com.

Unika Vaev
Motive

The three patterns in the Charette collection come in eight contract-friendly colorways and boast 100,000 double rubs. Motive, a Zeftron textile, is a regimented grid with internal crosshatch blocks. 607 Norwich Avenue, Taftville, CT 06380; 800-237-1625; unikavaev.com.

Henry Calvin
Cosmos

Cosmos, an elegant yet primitive print on a cotton-polyester blend, is a compelling pattern of big and small concentric circles; it complements Infinity, a striated and pleasingly textural counter note. Both are available in six colorways. 2046 Lars Way, Medford, OR 97501; 888-732-1996; henrycalvin.com.

John Boyd
Dense-woven horsehair fabrics

Dense-woven horsehair fabrics provide the durability that much-used chairs and sofas require. This manufacturer has been creating fabrics in the same fashion for more than 100 years. The longstanding quality and the timeless appeal of the designs make them ideal for restoring and recovering antiques, as well as for lending an air of burnished tradition to any interior. Higher Flax Mills, Castle Cary, Somerset BA7 7DY, England; 44-196-335-0451; johnboydtextiles.co.uk.

Duralee
Swirl and 14160-56

Complementary geometric patterns and contrasting color combinations add life and vigor to this follow-up to the first Transitions collection. Transitions Volume II features pocket weaves, washed finishes, and no shortage of stylization. The four color books comprise more than 200 individual selections. Shown, from the Aquamarine book, are Swirl and 14160-56, a complementary abstract pattern inspired by Moorish tiles. 1775 Fifth Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706; 800-275-3872; duralee.com.

Circa
Superstar

First introduced as a piece of art commissioned by decorator-to-the-stars Phyllis Morris, this retro-chic image was recently discovered by Morris's daughter, Jamie Adler; the repeating pattern only adds to its iconic appeal (each face is 29 inches wide by 35 inches high). Superstar is available in vinyl and laminated heavyweight paper versions. 655 North Robertson Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069; 310-289-6868; circafurniture.com.

Luna Textiles

The kaleidoscope-inspired Chromatic collection is made up of four patterns including: geometric Hoop in a polyester-cotton blend; nylon-polyester-blend Flash; and textured cotton-polyester blend Dapple. (Cotton-nylon-blend Beam not shown.) 2415 Third Street, Suite 280, San Francisco, CA 94107; 415-252-7125; lunatextiles.com.

Innovations

The Metallescence collection features seven breathable, earth-friendly stunners including Grass Cloth, made from honeysuckle vines; Cork, comprised of sheets of laminated cork; Paper Weave 6x6 and Paper Weave 1x1, in which ribbons of paper are woven into a grid pattern; recycled Craft Paper; Oxford; and Allegory. All are offered in seven metallic colorways, which are produced from aluminum leaf that's tinted with water-based ink; are PCV-free; and surpass industry standard Class A flame rating. 150 Varick Street, 9th Floor, New York, NY 10013; 212-807-6300; innovationsusa.com.

Wolf-Gordon
Cirque du Cirque

Kari Pei's Cirque du Cirque features merry circles atop a diamond-embossed background. The 21-ounce Type II vinyl is as durable as it is spirited. It's offered in 10 colors. 33-00 47th Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101; 800-347-0550; wolf-gordon.com.

Création Baumann
Bonadea

Bonadea, a polyester-cotton floral, uses a matelassé technique that renders contrasts more vivid by adding dimensionality. The combination of matte and gloss threads heightens the effect. Bonadea is available in 10 boldly contrasting colorways and measures 54 inches wide. 114 North Centre Avenue, Rockville Centre, NY 11570; 516-764-7431; creationbaumann.com.

Knoll
Stacks

Between its quietly elegant color palette (and 12 colorways), its small-scale design, and its hardy construction (51 percent Olefin, 49 percent recycled polyester), Stacks is equally practical for contract, residential, and corporate spaces. 76 Ninth Avenue, New York, NY 10011; 212-343-4000; knolltextiles.com.

Spinneybeck
Maremma collection

As rich in tone and character as the light-saturated, seaside corner of Tuscany after which it's named, the Maremma collection of textured suedes is available in 17 colorways. The hides, which measure approximately 20 square feet on average, are treated with water and stain repellents during the tanning process for added durability. 425 Crosspoint Parkway, Getzville, NY 14068; 800-482-7777; spinneybeck.com.

Architex
New Crypton Introductions

Bright color combinations and whimsical patterns—a full 33 of them—make up the five debuting entries in the New Crypton Introductions. Like all the manufacturer's fabrics, these are water-, moisture-, mildew-, and stain-resistant Crypton, which makes them suitable for upholstery in high-use hot spots. 3333 Commercial Avenue, Northbrook, IL 60062; 800-621-0827; architex-ljh.com.

Pallas Textiles
Tradewinds upholstery textiles

Breathe new life into any interior with Tradewinds jacquard upholstery textiles. Inspired by nature's winds, the weaves emphasize movement rather than pattern. The collection includes four designs, Breeze, Billows, Thunder, and Whisk, in 42 colors. 1330 Bellevue Street, Green Bay, WI 54302; 800-472-5527; pallastextiles.com.

Architex
Angela Adams collection

"A lack of formal training can open one up to new or uncommon techniques," says Angela Adams. The designer began her career as a decorative painter before switching her focus to the boldly colored, hand-tufted rugs in large graphic and floral patterns for which she's well-known. Now, Adams is moving onto contract textiles with the launch of her debut collection for Architex at NeoCon this June. Developed in less than a year, the line's 31 patterns (27 textiles and 4 vinyls) come in 173 combined colorways, all of which embody Adams's signature geometry and psychedelia in extra-durable fabrics. Cotton-wool Manfred, for example, comes in four distinctive hues and boasts 100,000 double rubs. The Crypton-finished polyester-rayon-blend fibers composing the loopy Kenga come in six colors including this spirited tangerine. Wavy Hazel is a cotton-wool blend that wears up to 60,000 double rubs, while cotton-polyester-blend Majesty withstands 80,000. The pattern of Crypton-finished cotton-polyester Easton was inspired by TV sets. The amoeba-like forms of the chenille Finn are rendered in six earthy colorways. 3333 Commercial Avenue, Northbrook, IL 60062; 800-621-0827; architex-ljh.com.

Maya Romanoff
Bedazzled wall covering

The one-year-old Bedazzled wall covering is now available in a 14-inch-square tile format. These beaded beauties come in 13 colors, including Ruby and Sylvie. 1730 West Greenleaf, Chicago, IL 60626; 773-465-6909; mayaromanoff.com.

Soliloquy
Minuet

A new entry in the Wiener Werkstätte collection, Minuet boasts a rigorous, starkly geometric repeating pattern that is an updated "translation" of an archive design by Carl Witzmann from 1908. This cotton-viscose blend is available in three colorways: Wedgewood, Shellac, and Kirsch. 3439 Northeast Sandy Boulevard, Suite 344, Portland, OR 97232; 503-242-1099; soliloquytex.com.

Pallas
Vineyard

An elegant, winding vine pattern and rich colors impart the feel of meticulously embroidered silk—but Vineyard is actually a tough, built-to-last polyester-viscose blend in six of-the-moment colors. Designer Lori Weitzner cleverly ran a dupioni yarn through the fabric's ground to create a rich contrast. P.O. Box 8100, Green Bay, WI 54308; 800-472-5527; pallastextiles.com.

Jocelyn Warner
Larger Than Life wall coverings

This English designer turns over a new leaf with her latest Larger Than Life wall coverings. Warner digitally enhances scans of eucalyptus varieties, then prints them on matte or glossy backgrounds in shimmery metallic inks. Through Designtex, 200 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014; 800-221-1540; jocelynwarner.com.
